State of Logistics™

GAIN Group (Pty) Ltd is busy developing the State of Logistics™ (SoL) 2026 Report, which will launch on this webpage toward the end of October 2026.

The SoL provides an evidence-based assessment of South Africa’s national logistics costs and the key factors driving these costs. It examines how freight volumes, modal use, operational performance, infrastructure constraints, and broader economic conditions influence transport, inventory carrying, warehousing, management, and administration costs. The report also includes a dedicated Western Cape section, which examines the province’s logistics costs and the specific factors shaping them. Together, the national and provincial analyses aim to help government and industry understand changes in logistics costs and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of South Africa’s logistics system.
