Having faced the challenges of entrepreneurship and growth, GAIN Group is passionate about business development in our community. We have partnered with Love2Give to establish and grow micro-businesses in the Kayamandi community through funding their work entrepreneur moms. Love2Give identifies mothers with existing businesses or a heart for entrepreneurship. These moms are sponsored to attend a micro-business management course twice yearly after which Love2Give assists them in analysing business opportunities and developing a plan of action. To kick-start these enterprises Love2Give recommends suitable micro-loan beneficiaries for those with viable business plans. These entrepreneurs are supported on their journey through regular follow-ups.
Committed to “growing our own wood”, we invest in out employees from a junior level, assiting them in identifying their own strengths and cultivating these in line with their individual career development goals.
Each junior employee is mentored to establish an Individual Development Plan (IDP) that outlines specific goals and action plans in four areas. Progress made in achieving IDP goals is monitored periodically with IDP’s formally reviewed on an annual basis. The four areas of development targeted in the IDP’s are:
Industry exposure: Working towards a point where one can comfortably engage with and present to clients in work meetings and network and build up new contacts at industry events. Typical actions include attending industry events and participating in client meetings.
Work ownership: Learning how to execute all the steps involved in executing a typical consulting project, starting with the need identification and proposal and ending with the final presentation and project close-out.
Training and certification: Completing formal training programmes, attending informal training seminars to enhance skill sets related to the core competencies of GAIN. Applying for industry certification for professionals is also strongly encouraged.
Teamwork development: Becoming an integral component of team-related projects within GAIN. Learning how to work well within the GAIN culture and how to add value to specific project teams.
